Norwegian Intership selects GreenOil solutions for new building.

The year 2025 is soon coming to an end, and we are feeling the Christmas spirit. At GreenOil Standard we like to take this time to look back at the year past. A year that has flown by, marked by great cooperation and growth once again.

We would like to thank you for being a part of it.

This year we had the pleasure of hosting the second GreenOil Technical Days in Aarhus and Ebeltoft, where we gathered our international agents to talk about oil filtration and diesel polishing within the industrial segment, success stories, new developments and an introduction too our new marketing strategy. We aim to be able to provide our customers with the best service possible, and to always be at the top of our game to face new ideas, international regulations and the everchanging development of the maritime and industrial industry.

2025 was a year of growth and development all around the organization. Not only have we expanded our skilled production crew with three new colleagues, but we have also expanded the engineering, customer service and marketing department with new colleagues.

We look back at a year where we once again had the pleasure of meeting friends from near and far, as we have travelled more than ever before visiting exhibitions, shipyards and vessels all over the world. This makes us even more excited about the year to come, as we look into new partnership and projects.

On October 29 and 30, we had the pleasure of hosting this year’s Technical Days together with our skilled agents and distributors from around the world. The goal of the event is to share knowledge, news, cases, and experiences with each other so that we can continue to improve.

The event began on Wednesday, October 29, in the Aarhus Hall in Aarhus, featuring a series of exciting presentations from our various departments at GreenOil. A great deal of knowledge was shared across teams. It all helps make our agents, distributors, and ourselves better—so that together we can provide our customers with the best possible experience with our products.

Later in the day, we took all our agents on a boat trip around the Aarhus harbor area. The evening concluded with dinner at Restaurant Köd in Aarhus.

On Thursday, October 30, all our agents gathered at our headquarters in Ebeltoft. We started the day with a light breakfast and a guided tour, followed by networking sessions within the various departments. After the tours, our customer service team gave a presentation. We then enjoyed a joint lunch, which ended with a feedback session.

On behalf of everyone at GreenOil, it has been a fantastic event that we have all learned a great deal from. We would like to thank all our agents who traveled from near and far to participate, for providing us with valuable feedback, sharing their knowledge, and strengthening our future collaboration.

We look forward to hosting Technical Days again in the future.

GreenOil has grown, familiar and new faces have become part of our team as we have expanded in all areas of our company. At our Ebeltoft office we have been busy developing new units and enhancing the current products, making oil filtration even better in the future.

2022 brought extra joy, as we are immensely proud to have been honored with a Gazelle Award by Børsen. Showing our team’s agility in challenging times and that our innovative offline oil filtration solutions are changing approaches to standard oil filtration worldwide.

We look back at a year where we once again had the pleasure of shaking hands with friends from near and far, and the opportunity to form new partnerships with local vendors. Our activities at home and aboard are increasing and we are excited about the year to come.

In the coming year we look forward to further develop our product range, heighten our marketing and sales activities and continue to provide excellent offline oil filtration to vessels all over the world.

It has almost been a year since the largest RoPax ferry, the first of two, in the DFDS fleet was on her way to Europe from GSI (Guangzhou Shipyard), and with that marked a completion of a great partnership between DFDS and GreenOil Standard.

DFDS have an ambitious ESG strategy, that includes taking actions to care for their employees, the oceans, the industry, and local communities. When building new vessels, they aim to reduce the CO2 emissions, create secure workspace, and use suppliers with greener profiles. In order to complete these ambitious goals, DFDS amongst others looked to a new method of filtrating the oil onboard. Once tested a satisfied crew saw the benefits of the system’s size, effortless maintenance, a more sustainable filtration material and the positive effects of keeping the oil clean for the equipment onboard, thereby prolonging their lifespan.

Simontanusly at Jinling Shipyard in China DFDS had commisioned six RoRo vessels, each being 237,4 meters long, they are classified as mega vessels. Onboard each ship 8 GreenOil systems are installed filtrating various oil types.

Clean oil is key in order to prolong the oil and components lifetime. Without clean oil, wear and tear on the machinery becomes increasingly worse over time, resulting in break downs, broken machinery and eventually delays. Keeping the oil on board clean, is therefore a priority for DFDS as they know the value of reduced downtime that comes when using GreenOil.

DFDS are actively addressing their environmental footprint. They have acted on several initiatives to become more sustainable, and we are proud suppliers to be a small part of this grand initiative.

One of the upgrades performed by Klaveness is to install GreenOil filtration solutions instead of the traditional centrifugal separators for both Main engine system and Aux. engine lubrication oil.

For decades, Østensjø has been the epitome of efficiency at sea through innovation and experience, securing safety for personnel accessing Wind Turbine Generators. For them performance to rely on is an absolute must.

In 2021 the separators which once cleaned the lubricating oil and fuel onboard, was replaced with GreenOil systems, thus, continuing their innovative approach to the marine industry.

The experience using GreenOil offline oil filtration systems have exclusively been positive according to the crew. There was an assumption, that the filters had to be replaced often, but to their great delight they found that the opposite was the case as there was no need to replace the filter as often as they thought.

“We haven’t even changed a filtercannister on lubrication oil since the installation, so we still have 16 in stock. I see in the manual that a yearly replacement is recommended based on the expected lifetime, but the filters can easily be used longer, as long at the back-pressure is not too high “

They installed the systems without any challenges, and since then they have seen a reduction in the amount of sludge produced onboard and the cost often associated with service and maintenance have disappeared.

Along with our local partner Ditech, Østensjø found the best solution for their vessels. Where they saw improvements, and once again proved that a retrofit of an off-line oil filtration system, gives great improvements for crew and company when comparing to existing separators.

Finland based Bore Ltd., part of the Spliethoff Group, has selected GreenOil solutions for its three new buildings at Wuhu Shipyard, China (W1911-W1913).

The vessels will be equipped with Wärtsilä 34DF engines and be the first LNG fueled short-sea Ro-Lo (roll-on, lift-off) vessels. GreenOil will equip each of the vessel with green and sustainable oil filtration systems, such as engine lubrication oil and Diesel/MGO filtration systems. Selecting of the GreenOil filtration systems by Bore Ltd. was caused by the main attractive green environmental advantage.

The GreenOil package will reduce the green environmental footprint for each of the vessels, with much less energy consumption, less oil consumptions and no sludge production, all that direct generate pure cost savings in operational cost and maintenance.

Tested and validated through 2 years in cold and harsh conditions.

GreenOil and its valuable partner in Norway, Ditech AS, has been awarded contract of complete retrofit of entire fleet for engine lubrication oil by REM Offshore.

The vessel REM Arctic has for two years tested the GreenOil filter systems instead of its traditional centrifugal separators.
Vessel Manager Dagfinn Boe has been very happy with the performance of the filter systems for number of reasons and expect return of investment within 6-8 months.

Retrofit of the GreenOil filtration system gives great advantages for the vessel crew and shipowner, such as:

Equal or better oil performance in terms of combustions residue, varnish, oxidation and no risk of water contamination.
No preheating of the oil to 95 degree celcius needed.
Very low consumption
Easy maintenance and much less time consuming for the operator.
Saving and improving the vessels green environmental footprint.

REM Offshore has also chosen GreenOil for its ongoing 90 meter CSV new building at Green Yard Kleven.

ECOFIVE was named Ship of the Year 2023 at Nor-Shipping. It is the first time in history that a fishing vessel has won this award, but due to the groundbreaking techonolgy and new approaches onboard the fishing vessel, it is an eco-friendly fishing vessel aiding in making the industry a greener. It has been said that the project is one of the most interesting things to happen in the industry in the last 30 years, and we are proud to be amongst the companies suppling the innovative technology making this happen. Luckily the project can be easily transferred to other newbuild fishing vessels

Reduced Emissions

Onboard is a hybrid propulsion system, with a battery system that has the capacity of 1,130 kWh, additionally several measures have been taken for the vessel to be more energy effecient. Adding this up ECOFIVE reduces its fuel consumption and emissions at least 25%, and for some operations up to 40%, compared to other modern trawlers on the water. The single most energy effecient area onboard it the twin propulsion systen, which has rudder nozzles fitted, the energy consumption is reduced by 15% by this feature alone. The designers and shipyard has also focused on comprehensive heat recovery and electrical winches amongst others.

Technology

The technology is spectacular, the ship owner and desingers have merged the technology found in fish carriers and land-based facilities into a design perfectly fitted the onboard production. The challenge is, that the technology needs to take care of the catch from the moment the net is set and till the finished production. They have specifically focused on:

• Gentle trawling and boarding where the live catch will flow in below the waterline
• Live storage of the catch in waterfilled tanks at the reception system
• Processing of multiple products
• Even factory exploitation
• Frosen down to -35 degrees using CO2 as a refrigerant
• All residual raw material is recovered for use

Systems delivered by Greenoil

At Greenoil, we are proud to contribute to the groundbreaking ECOFIVE project by delivering innovative solutions that enhance energy efficiency and sustainability in the fishing industry.

GreenOil Standard is pleased to announce complete order to provide equipment for VARD NB928 SOV vessel for Ta San Shang Marine, a joint venture between Mitsui O.S.K. Lines Ltd (MOL) and Ta Tong Marine Co., Ltd (TTM).

The package includes GreenOil Standard fuel, hydraulic and propulsion filtration and water separation systems. The systems fulfill todays requirements of clean fuel for engines with a simple and very efficient technology as well the high requirements for hydraulic and propulsion equipment.
The SOV is of VARD 4 19 design, developed by Vard Design in close cooperation with the customer and partners. The vessel will be built at VARD’s shipyard Vard Vung Tau in Vietnam, scheduled for delivery in first half of 2022.

GreenOil Standard has received orders to provide equipment for four offshore wind service vessels for Edda Wind, Østensjø Group´s offshore wind business unit.

Two of the equipment packages were awarded by the Spanish Gondán Shipbulders, who is building two of the commissioning service operation vessels (CSOVs) and additional the two other equipment packages from Astilleros Balenciaga.

The CSOVs equipment package consist of GreenOil Standard fuel filtration and water separation systems. The system fulfill todays requirements of clean fuel for engines with a simple and very efficient technology.

GreenOil have been awarded the scope of Sefine Shipyard NB44 in Turkey for the supply of fuel filtration systems together with thruster filtration systems. The supply of the equipment follow up with the latest supply for NB42 to same owner in Norway.

The Norwegian Ship Design Company, TNSDC, is the designer of this special vessel as TNSDC103. This vessel will be about 54 meters length and 99 passenger capacity. With the low emission generators and 342 kWh battery capacity, vessel will be ecofriendly and leave less carbon footprint.

GreenOil has been selected by owner and shipyard for oil filtration systems for engine lubrication oil on the MaK 8M25 main engine, Diesel and hydraulic applications for Karstensens NB446 “Kristin”. GreenOil Standard assisted the yard and the owner for the startup of the systems, which now are ready for startup of the engines.

Magnus Bang from GreenOil Standard was yesterday assisting the shipyard and shipowner (Karstensen Shipyard in Skagen, Denmark) with start up of the GreenOil systems.

A new colaboration has now been established between GreenOil Standard and Karstensens Shipyard in suplying the modern fishing fleet being built in Skagen with sustainable and economical Oil Filtration solutions and we as a company look forward to work together with Karstensens for the future to come.
